OUR BEGINNINGS

Their father, Lamar Eason, was a deacon in the church and sang with several other men in a quartet.  Occassionally on Saturday evening or Sunday nights the family would all gather at one of the homes of a fellow church memebers. There the men would gather around the piano and sing that good 'ole gospel quartet music ... music with shaped notes!

It is from this upbringing and their love of the Lord that they found their love of singing.  For years Pat and Jeanie would sing together, from special music on Sundays, sitting together in the church choir, and then eventually in the gospel music ministry.  As the years passed Jeanie's son Jason Francis became more active in the church's youth choir.

In 1986, Jason was scheduled by his music minister, Kenny Robison, to audition with the Continental Singers and Orchestra.  Much to Jason's suprise, he was invited to tour with The Continentals the following year.  In the summer of 1987, at age 15, Jason left for tour.  Touring with this international group was a privilege; however, such travels come with a price tag!  The family decided to begin singing concerts and sharing with others the opportunity that Jason had been given.  Together as a family, Pat, Jeanie, Jason, and a dear family friend Thomas Dymke (Trippy) formed a quartet and begin to sing together and unanimously agreed to identify themselves as "The Easlons", honouring their family that rooted them in their faith.  Through these concerts the funds were raised for Jason to go on the road ministering the Gospel throughout the United States and the United Kingdom.

Upon Jason's return from tour he, along with the famly, felt that God was calling them to continue their ministry.  Being lead by their calling The Easlons, now joined by Amy Francis (Jeanie's daughter / Jason's sister), continued their ministry through the mid 90s.  Due to relocation of the members for work/career, going off to college, and life transitions the group became less active toward the end of the decade only doing spot dates, and one night concerts.  However, their love for singing and ministering the gospel continued in their local churches.

Today, The Easlons are back ministering the gospel through song.  Our group has changed and our sound may be different, but our roots for Southern Gospel / Country Gospel is still strong.  On March 16, 2014, after a long battle with liver disease, Jeanie Easlon Francis entered into Heaven and is now singing with the the angels.  We are saddened by her physical absense; however, we rejoice in knowing that she is celebrating with Jesus and walking the streets of gold.  The Easlons will continue to minister, as we have been called to do, until we breath our last breathe.  We are excited to see the journey God in store.  We will continue to gladly wear the name Easlon and proudly continue the legacy in honour and memory to Jeanie.

The Easlons are excited to be "back in the saddle" and look forward to ministering and worshipping with you!  See you soon!

The Easlons

The Easlons' roots to Southern Gospel and Christian Country music are deeply rooted from their upbringing.  Pat recalls singing in Memorial Baptist Church in Waco, Texas where their family were members for years.  Along with her brother Grady Lamar Easlon and sister Jeanie Easlon Francis, founding member of The Easlons, she remembers their early years of singing in the church.  Pat remembers ... "They would have to put some kind of box, or stack hymnals behind the pulpit for me to stand on when we would sing".

THE EASLONS TODAY

Today The Easlons find themselves in a new chapter of their ministry.  Our new, upbeat Country Gospel sound is taking us into the next step on their journey in the Gospel Music Ministry.  Now a duo, our sounds and harmonies have changed, although you find a familiar sound that is reminiscent of The Easlons in the 80s/90s.  Pat and Jason are excited about being a duo! There is nothing like singing with family and we love the harmonies that a quartet can bring.

Along with their Contemporary Christian Country sound, The Easlons have a passion for praise and worship.  Singing hymns of praise has always been in our souls and we find just as much depth in the new contemporary praise and worship tunes being written today.
